The Weill Cornell Medicine Career Advancement for Research in Health Equity (CARE T37) program, which is made possible (in part) by 1T37MD014220 from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, is intended to provide early exposure to health equity research and global health for pre-doc and post-doctoral trainees. Global Health Service Learning Program The Institute for Population Health will select up to 8 first year pre-medical students from WCM-Q for a global health service learning experience for 2 weeks at a medical setting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. To encourage global health education among all Weill Cornell students, we also allow nonenrolled students to participate in any GHC component, space permitting. We hope to establish a means for formal recognition of program completion by the time the first GHC class graduates in 2013 (e.g., certificate of completion from the medical college, mention in the dean’s letter to residency programs). The mission of the General Internal Medicine Research Fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell is to train general internists for academic careers in primary care, hospital medicine and health services research. The Global Health Curriculum prepares Weill Cornell medical students to be future leaders in global health through a longitudinal program featuring didactic course work, experiential learning, and a mentored pathway for engaging with resource‐poor communities, internationally and domestically.
